Conergy Deutschland GmbH has successfully sold the “Hörup“ solar park with peak power output of 4.2 MW to a group of investors. This means that the park in Hörup by Flensburg is currently the largest connected photovoltaic park in Northern Germany. A total of three investors, as well as a Citizens’ Solar Park (Bürgersolarpark) have invested in financing the project, which has an investment volume in the double-digit million range. Conergy is responsible for the development and construction of the megawatt park.

Now that the building permit has been received, construction work has officially begun.“We welcome the construction of the new solar park, which will lift Hörup up into the top league of green solar communities in Northern Germany,” comments Hörup’s mayor Joachim Janke regarding the successful start of construction. “We are especially pleased that beside the three individual investors, many citizens have also actively invested in the solar park through the Citizens' Solar Park," emphasizes Janke. The Conergy installers will now start straight away by driving the piles for the mounting system. The solar experts want to have the open-air facility finished in December of this year and completely connected to the grid.

Even though large solar parks have primarily been realized in Southern Germany until now, northern German investors are now becoming more interested in solar energy. Thanks to the favorable development of module prices, attractive fixed feed-in tariffs, and many available open spaces, photovoltaics is becoming an attractive investment for more and more northern German investors and farmers. “The north is thawing," confirms Norbert Apfel. “We are noting a considerable increase in the demand for large projects in the north and are convinced that other investors will follow Hörup’s example.”

It is above all the quality of the components used that is decisive for the profitability and smooth operation of a solar energy system. Therefore, Conergy makes exclusive use Premium Modules, inverters and mounting systems as well as high-quality solar components from its own production and from other reputable quality manufacturers. For the solar park in Hörup, Conergy is installing a total of 55,818 thin-film modules on an area of 15 hectares, which will be placed on 36,505 m2 of custom-made mounting systems of the Conergy Solar Linea model, and they will be connected to 15 inverters of the Conergy IPG 280 series.

After start-up, the facility will produce more than four million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity, which is enough to supply more than 2000 homes in Hörup and the surrounding area throughout the year.The environment will also benefit from this. This is because over the 20-year minimum operating time, the solar park will avoid CO2 emissions amounting to more than 60,000 tons, which equates to the emissions from 10,000 cars, if each were to drive once around the world.
